Meg Joins the Navy

A new member of the Navy Nurse Corps and a proud wife of a Navy corpsman stationed together at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

I'm a new grad nurse from Stevenson University, a small private university outside of Baltimore that no one outside of the state of Maryland has heard of.  I graduated in 2012 with my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing and began my adventure of becoming a Navy nurse.  I signed with the Navy as a junior in college, as part of the Nurse Corps Program after interviews, physical exams at MEPS, background checks, and LOTS of paperwork and phone calls.

After passing the NCLEX (a better moment than graduation), I set off to Officer Development School in Newport, RI for 5 weeks and upon graduation, moved to Camp Lejeune, NC where I've begun my nursing career...

My fiance and I met in the beginning of high school and dated for one month in the very beginning before figuring out that it was super awkward and we have been best friends since, helping each other through relationship problems and breakups.  One Fourth of July we even made a pact that if neither of us weren't married by 30, we'd get together... until right before he went to leave for Navy boot camp and years of love spilled out and we've been together since.

Senior prom
And now, after one deployment, and 1 year in the Navy for me, we're less than 2 months away from our wedding ceremony and taking on whatever life or the Navy hands us.
